Hold the hue and cry for now! [25 September 1998]
I've been working with a contact (who has time during the day
to burrow deeply and spend ages on the phone) and got this a few
minutes ago:
OK .. I've talked to Jacqui Aldridge, Consumer Media Manager, and she (after taking a while to find the people concerned) says there are no such plans. Although they are going to plug a new set of TV/phone tariffs in October.
A real, live, named person quoted - whatever next?
Then my contact said:
It's not inconceivable that she's wrong and you're right. After all, she
can only rely on what other people in CWC are telling her - she had to
wait until they came out of meetings. We'll know in a week or two.
I never print uncorroborated information, and thought that hearing the same thing five times (from two 'moles' and three CWC Customer Services people) was quite enough.
We shall see - is that 'no such plans' or 'no such plans at present'? ;)
