Keep right on till the end of the road [8 February 1998]
Of course the statement to The Times is marvellous news. But I, for one, will not be satisfied until I get a statement straight from CWC which I can scan and put up on these pages.
In the next few days, as the enormity of what has happened sinks in, they may try to go back on their word. But assertions like 'the Press Office statement does not reflect company policy' would have had meaning before the events but will have no meaning after them; it is hard to put toothpaste back into its tube.
So, for the time being, assume that the events of the past week didn't happen and keep plugging away!
I have asked for a statement in yet another letter to Graham Wallace.
