Cool Britannia ... but are we civilised? [17 January 1998]
There's been a great fuss about 'Cool Britannia' in the press lately. But Nicholas Negroponte has this to say in the January 1998 Wired:
Sooner or later, every civilised country will have a low and fixed rate for unlimited local calls.
Call prices are coming down, but you probably still have to look over your shoulder when the modem's on. That isn't cool - and neither is it civilised.
